Kathleen M. Volkman, M.D. is a board-certified internal medicine physician who sees patients at the UW Neighborhood Shoreline Clinic.

Dr. Volkman's clinical interests include  HIV primary care, managing complex, chronic illnesses, smoking and alcohol cessation, and resident and student education.

Dr. Volkman believes that health is a "state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease" (World Health Organization, 1948). As a primary care provider, Dr. Volkman feels it is her role to understand each patient as an individual and provide them with a safe and open space to discuss their concerns. Her goal is to partner with each patient to work towards their individual health goals in all dimensions of life.

Personal Interests

Dr. Volkman enjoy spending time with her family, and also likes to hike, run, practice yoga, knit and cook.
