About Jurgen Unutzer
Jürgen Unützer, M.D., is a board certified psychiatrist at the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at UW Medical Center, chair of UW Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, director of the UW Medicine Advancing Integrated Mental Health Solutions (AIMS) Center, and a UW professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and an adjunct professor of Global Health and Health Services.
Dr. Unützer is an internationally recognized psychiatrist and health services researcher. His work focuses on integrating mental health and general medical services, and on translating research on evidence-based mental healthcare into effective clinical and public health practice.
Dr. Unützer earned his M.D. at Vanderbilt University. His clinical interests include primary care psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine and health services research. The AIMS center he directs has supported the development, testing and implementation of an evidence-based program for depression treatment in more than 1,000 primary care clinics in the United States and abroad.

In addition to offering care to patients, Dr. Unützer enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
