Dr. Amory is an attending physician on the UW Palliative Care service. She provides supportive care to families and infants in the Neonatal ICU.
Dr. Amory earned her bachelor’s degree with honor from Princeton University, and her M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. She came to the UW as an intern and resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and continued to complete a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. After practicing high-risk obstetrics in the community for ten years, she returned to the UW for a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
She now combines her expertise in these two areas of medicine to provide palliative and supportive care to newborns and their families in the Neonatal ICU. Her clinical interests include family and medical team communication, goals of care discussions, and teaching best practices in communication to physicians and staff.
Palliative care is an extra layer of support for patients and families experiencing significant medical illness. For families of newborns in the ICU, hospitalization is an extraordinarily stressful and complicated time. My role as a palliative care provider is to support newborns, families, and staff as they navigate these challenges together.
