J. Michael Lauinger, M.D., is a board certified physician at the UW Neighborhood Des Moines Clinic and a UW assistant professor of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Lauinger believes that a healthy lifestyle and screenings to detect medical conditions are the cornerstones of primary care. Once a condition is diagnosed, he strives to empower patients with knowledge of their condition and its treatment in an effort to help them prevent complications and live the life they wish to enjoy.

Dr. Lauinger earned his M.D. at Georgetown University. His clinical and research interests include cardiology, diabetes care and preventative health.

Personal Interests

In his free time Dr. Lauinger enjoys spending time with his wife, basketball, running, hiking, cooking, reading and keeping up with his family and friends.
