Dr. Ihm is great! He's knowledgeable and kind. He makes sure you understand and are on the same page with his treatment plan.

Usually I'm very put off by having male doctors since I'm used to extreme misogyny towards my pains. Even though Ihm is male he actually showed care and compassion on figuring out what is wrong and helping me. Better care than I'm even used to getting from all (except 1) other doctors I've seen in my life. I felt seen for the pains I have and appreciate him helping get me the treatments I need. Was a very welcome surprise. 100% recommended.

Impressive, Dr had reviewed previous visits (this is first time seeing this doctor). He ordered xrays and compared them to previous xrays when explaining diagnosis.

Dr Ihm diagnosed my problem with a physical exam and eliminated a differential diagnosis with XRay. Dr Ihm is good at communicating expectations for development of my condition. He shares my hesitancy for medical or surgical interventions which makes it easy to speak candidly with him. We are pursuing additional imagery at this time but we went over the pros and cons quite thoroughly. I like Dr Ihm quite a bit and would recommend him to anyone!

Seeing Dr. Ihms was such a positive experience. He listened carefully and was patient with me even when I was not always clear or perhaps provided too many details; he treated me like I was intelligent; he showed care and concern; he was clearly highly competent and knowledgable but in no way arrogant, which I find to be rare among so many physicians (an arrogant attitude seems inversely related to competence, I'm coming to see); he was incredibly thorough, comparing current and previous scans of my back and walking me through his observations and thinking process; and, perhaps most remarkably, he was comfortable saying that he didn't know something, and helped me understand why a firm conclusion about the source of my pain couldn't be drawn with certainty. I find this last point to be sorely lacking in the medical field. Several years ago I worked with a physiatrist who seemed knowledgable, but when he couldn't account for the nature and location of my pain, he became dismissive and implied that I was making it up or exaggerating. It took me a few years to get up the courage to see another provider, an orthopedist. He had excellent credentials, but he seemed hurried and annoyed from the first moment on, interrupting me countless times without ever finding out the purpose of my visit. I came away from my consultation with Dr. Ihms with a clear sense of what was knowable, what was not at this point, and where to go from here. I simply cannot recommend him highly enough. If you have a sensitive temperament as I do, Dr. Ihms may be especially well-suited to you!
