Jonathan Chen, M.D., is a board certified physician who leads the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Group and co-directs the Heart Center at Seattle Children's Hospital. He is also a UW professor of Surgery and holds the Samuel and Althea Stroum Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
Dr. Chen treats children and adults with congenital heart disease. He also specializes in newborn and infant congenital heart surgery. He strives to create active partnerships with patients and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Chen earned his M.D. at Columbia. He is board certified in both Congenital Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. His clinical interests include mechanical circulatory support for patients who develop heart failure and may later require heart transplantation. His research interests include congenital heart surgery in newborns, infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease.
Dr. Chen works with volunteer organizations to extend and improve congenital cardiovascular care to the developing world through humanitarian trips.
