John Meehan, M.D, is a board certified pediatric surgeon at UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of Surgery.

Dr. Meehan is a pioneer in pediatric robotic surgery and one of the most experienced pediatric general surgeons in the world. He is well known for his contributions and has written extensively on the discipline. He believes new technologies and techniques are key to improved healthcare, and connecting with the child and family on a personal level is key to patient care.

Dr. Meehan earned his M.D. at the University of Iowa. He is board certified in both Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, telemedicine, surgical oncology, neonatal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, biliary atresia and choledochal cyst. His research interests include robotic instrumentation and innovation and minimally invasive surgery.

Personal Interests

Dr. Meehan is active in athletics as a top U.S. amateur runner and cyclist. During his down time, he enjoys boating and improv comedy.
