John Harlan, M.D., is chief of Hematology-Oncology and associate medical director at Harborview Medical Center and a UW professor emeritus of Medicine and Hematology. He has been listed in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Doctors in America and named a Top Doctor by Seattle Met magazine.

Dr. Harlan values communication with patients, in particular taking time to listen. He seeks to provide comprehensive but personalized care that is guided by the most current evidence-based treatments.

Dr. Harlan earned his M.D. from the University of Chicago. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. His clinical practice encompasses benign and malignant hematology and solid tumor oncology. He also conducts basic research on the role of the inflammatory and immune systems in diverse diseases.

In his free time Dr. Harlan enjoys hiking, climbing, soccer, travel and reading.
