About James Gordon Hecker
James Hecker, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified anesthesiologist at UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and Neuroanesthesia and an adjunct associate professor of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Hecker strives to always provide each patient with the best care possible.
Dr. Hecker earned his M.D. at the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. at the UW. He had an extramurally funded research program for 20 years in non-viral gene delivery to the brain for neuroprotection before major surgeries. His clinical and research interests include gene therapy, molecular biology, stress responses and neuroprotection.
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Hecker enjoys bicycling, mountaineering, sailing and skiing.
