James Basinski, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist at Harborview's Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and the Third Avenue Center and a UW assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He also maintains a private practice in Seattle delivering medication management and psychotherapy services.

Dr. Basinski enjoys practicing psychiatry and making the lives of patients as fulfilling as possible by collaborating with them to lessen their mental suffering and increase their self-understanding and self-determination.

Dr. Basinski earned his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. His clinical and research interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, collaborative care models of psychiatry, and homeless and indigent mental healthcare.
