Ingrid Van Swearingen, MD, is a board certified family medicine physician. Her favorite part of family medicine is being able to care for all people throughout the lifespan, especially for whole families. She provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages, genders and backgrounds, including preventive care, chronic disease care, diagnosis and treatment of new medical and mental health concerns, and coordinating care with specialists if needed. Dr. Van Swearingen currently only accepts new patients 18 years of age and younger.
She works with patients to understand their health (and health struggles) in the larger context of their life, partnering with her patients to come up with an individualized plan for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up that will be right for them, rather than a one-size-fits-all declaration, while still informed by evidence-based science and national guidelines. She will listen, consider, explain, and collaborate with patients, rather than just reflexively prescribing another pill. She thinks preventive care is also critically important at all stages of life - vaccines and birth control are truly among my most favorite things.
Dr. Van Swearingen believes it is an honor and a privilege to be someone's doctor - she looks forward to working with patients to achieve your health goals and wellbeing!
After completing her family medicine training in Vermont, Dr. Van Swearingen returned to this area to be close to her family, who still live in Edmonds where she grew up. In her free time, she loves cooking (especially baking), skiing in winter and paddle boarding in summer, and spending time with her family.
