Heidi is an expert in women's health and has 28 years of experience in the United Kingdom and then in the United States in many settings including medical-surgical nursing, gynecology, oncology, community nursing, nursing administration and teaching. Her experience as a nurse practitioner is in breast oncology and women’s health/primary care.

She does not think there is any other profession where one can have such a profound impact on so many lives. It is rewarding to know that you can help another person or guide them through a significant chapter in their life. You get to use your heart and mind.

Professional and personal experiences drew Heidi to breast oncology and women’s health. Survivors of breast and women’s cancers are a remarkable group that I’m privileged to work with. Their strength and resilience are inspiring. In her lifetime, Heidi says the ultimate change to see in cancer treatment would be a cure in every case. She is excited about a future where there is a greater focus on survivorship. Aspects of survivorship and cancer prevention overlap.

Heidi hopes to see more research that effectively addresses the long-term physical and emotional impact of diagnosis and treatment.
