About Erik G. Van Eaton
Erik Van Eaton, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a a board certified surgeon at UW Medical Center and Harborview, co-founder of the UW's Applied Clinical Informatics Research Laboratory and a UW associate professor of Trauma, Burn and Critical Care and Surgery and an adjunct associate professor of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education.
Dr. Van Eaton's specialty is caring for critically ill surgical patients. Usually, conversations about a patient's progress must be held with family members, rather than directly with the patient, who may be too ill to communicate. He strives for clear, understandable and frequent conversations with loved ones.
Dr. Van Eaton earned his M.D. at the UW. He is board certified in both Surgical Critical Care and Surgery. His clinical and research interests include surgical critical care, emergency surgery, complex abdominal hernia repairs, biomedical informatics, information transfer and communication practices.
Personal Interests
In his spare time Dr. Van Eaton enjoys skiing, hiking and technology.
