Biography

Elahe Mostaghel, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified oncologist at SCCA and a UW associate professor of Medicine and Oncology.

Dr. Mostaghel specialize in prostate and bladder cancers. She was one of those kids who knew in elementary school that she wanted to be a doctor. Her goals are to provide patients with the knowledge and understanding they need in order to navigate their illness and therapy, to offer them cutting-edge treatment in a multidisciplinary setting and to build an ongoing relationship based on empathy, compassion and respect.

Dr. Mostaghel earned her M.D. and Ph.D. at Duke. Dr. Mostaghel and her colleagues recently found what may be the key to developing more effective treatments: prostate tumors appear to make their own hormones, fueling their own growth. The finding suggests future therapies may need to hit directly at the tumors themselves.
