Dick Hwang, MD, PhD, is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology. Dr. Hwang is dedicated to advancing the practice of medicine through technology. By integrating computational tools into laboratory workflows, he strives to streamline processes, minimize diagnostic errors, and deliver more accurate, timely results for patients and clinicians. His interests include using large language models to check accuracy of pathology reports and to extract data from ancillary reports, automated interpretative report generation from gated flow cytometry data, and semi-automated interpretation of flow cytometry data. He aims to package these tools ergonomically to produce a streamlined workflow for the pathologist.
Dr. Hwang's clinical expertise is in diagnosis of hematopoietic neoplasms, including by flow cytometry. He is also an Asssociate Professor of Clinical Practice, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington.
Dr. Hwang enjoys gardening, playing the piano, bicycling, and exploring home automation during his free time.
