Deepika Nehra, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in trauma and surgical critical care. Dr. Nehra's clinical interests include caring for severely injured trauma patients and patients with complex general surgery conditions. She also has specific expertise in hernia repair, including minimally invasive hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Nehra is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington. She is the Program Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and Medical Director of the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Harborview Medical Center. She is also the founder and medical director of the Harborview Violence Intervention and Prevention Program.

Dr. Nehra is dedicated to providing patient-centered care through honest and clear communication with patients and their loved ones. She believes it is important to continue to support patients and their recovery experience even after discharge from the hospital.

Dr. Nehra earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine and completed her general surgery training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She completed her Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Washington.

Dr. Nehra is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr. Nehra’s research interests include a better understanding of patient-centered outcomes after injury and developing strategies to improve those outcomes using a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.
