About Deborah S. Cowley
Deborah Cowley, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist at UWMC-Roosevelt and a UW professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Cowley has expertise evaluating and treating women who have mental health issues during pregnancy and postpartum, and throughout their life cycle, including premenstrual and menopause-related psychiatric symptoms. She also has expertise evaluating and treating anxiety disorders and depression. She believes it is important to understand the biological, psychological and social aspects of a patients’ emotional disorders. She enjoys educating patients and having them participate in their own treatment whenever possible.
Dr. Cowley earned her M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical interests include anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, panic disorder, postpartum depression, evidence-based medicine, maternal mental health and women’s health.
Personal Interests
In her spare time, Dr. Cowley enjoys being a parent, hiking and reading.
