About Daniel D. Rubens

Daniel Rubens, M.D., is a board certified anesthesiologist and director of the Anesthesia Transplant Service at Seattle Children's Hospital and a UW associate professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

Dr. Rubens feels that building meaningful relationships with patients, families and colleagues is cornerstone to being a good pediatric anesthesia practitioner. This involves listening and taking the time to connect with individuals.

Dr. Rubens earned his M.D. at the University of New South Wales in Australia. He sub-specializes in anesthesia for neuro- and craniofacial surgery. Dr. Rubens is also researching SIDS and is currently looking for a way to detect infant at risk for SIDS at birth. He is also researching inner ear involvement in SIDS and its effect on arousal during sleep.

Personal Interests

Dr. Rubens has a passion for landscape photography. He sells his photographs, the profits of which go towards his research through the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Research Guild.
