Christopher P. Childers, MD, PhD, is a surgical oncologist who specializes in liver and pancreas surgery. Dr. Childers prioritizes meticulous, evidence-based care before, during, and after surgery to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients. He is dedicated to fully informing and supporting patients and their families as they navigate the expanding range of treatment options. Dr. Childers is also board certified in surgical oncology as of 2024.
Dr. Childers clinical expertise includes open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques for removing benign and malignant tumors of the liver, pancreas, gallblader, and bile ducts. Examples include pancreatic cancer, hepatoceullar carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder cancer, as well as tumors that have spread to the liver from other parts of the body (eg, colorectal cancer, neuroendocrine tumors). He is also an Assistant Professor of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery at UW Medicine.
Dr. Childers is the founder and principal investigator of the PAYOR (Payment and Outcomes Research) lab. The PAYOR lab is dedicated to understanding how physician payment systems and reimbursement policies influence provider behavior and healthcare outcomes.
Dr. Childers enjoys quality time with his family, engaging in DIY projects, hiking, running, and cooking.
