Charlotte Smith, M.D., is a board-certified physician at the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Dr. Smith specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She believes healthcare is optimal when the patient, family, physician and medical team work together. Her biggest goal is to have relationships that allow trust and mutual respect. 

Dr. Smith earned her M.D. at Baylor College. She is board certified in both Spinal Cord Injury and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, oncology rehabilitation and breast cancer rehabilitation. She has been involved with international research using locomotor training to facilitate recovery after spinal cord injury. Other research interests include the use of alternative therapies in female runners. She lectures locally and nationally on ethics, practice management, spinal cord injury and other rehabilitation topics.

Personal Interests

Dr. Smith's personal time revolves around her children, who are involved in sports, dance and musical theater. She also mentors marriages with her husband.
