Catherine Hough, M.D., is director of Intensive Care at Harborview and a UW associate professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Hough is an expert in critical care medicine, including management of patients with acute respiratory failure and acute respiratory distress syndrome and conducts research on critical care outcomes. She works at Harborview because she thinks the staff is the best in the world at providing high-quality critical care to all people. Her focus is on patient-centered care; she always wants to make sure that the care provided matches patient and family wishes and goals.

Dr. Hough earned her M.D. from UC San Francisco. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Additionally, she has had continuous NIH funding since 2003. Her research interests include improving long-term outcomes after critical illness.

In her free time Dr. Hough enjoys reading, live music and spending time with family.
