Carolyn Brenner, M.D., is a board certified psychiatrist at Harborview, medical director of Mental Health and Addictions Services and a UW associate professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Brenner’s work focuses on treating people with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia. She strives to create active partnerships with her patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Brenner earned her M.D. at the University of Vermont. Her clinical interests include schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, severe mental illness and integrated primary and mental healthcare. Her academic interests include evidence-based pharmacological and psychosocial treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders and integration of primary care with mental health care in the severely mentally ill population.
