Brian C. Liem, M.D., F.A.A.P.M.R., is a sports medicine physician and UW clinical assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.
Dr. Liem earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center, residency at Northwestern University in Chicago and fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Washington. He is board-certified in sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
His clinical interests include non-operative treatment of injuries, bursitis, tendinitis, rotator cuff impingement, knee pain, ankle sprain, tennis elbow, labral tear, sciatica, radiculopathy, herniated disc, platelet rich plasma, joint and bursa steroid injections, viscosupplementation and lumbar epidural steroids. His research interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound, regenerative medicine and tendinopathy.
To foster active, functional patients, Dr. Liem educates them about their injuries and works with them to develop sound treatment plans.
Dr. Liem spends his free time eclectically, partaking in street food, Texas BBQ, traveling, home improvement, automotive repair, running and biking.
