Bernardo Goulart, M.D., M.S., is a board certified physician at SCCA and UW Medical Center and a UW assistant professor of Medicine and Oncology.
Dr. Goulart treats patients for lung cancer and head and neck cancer. He considers communicating with patients in a compassionate way his top responsibility, since many patients diagnosed with cancer experience intense changes that affect their lives and the lives of their families and loved ones.
Dr. Goulart earned his M.D. at the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and his M.S. at the UW. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. Goulart’s research is in the field of outcomes research, with a particular focus on lung, head and neck cancers. Dr. Goulart designs and conducts studies that assess the quality and cost-effectiveness of cancer treatments delivered nationwide.
Outside of work, Dr. Goulart enjoys exercising. He tries to run five miles at least twice a week. When time allows, he’ll lift weights. One of his favorite activities on weekends or vacations is camping in areas such as the North Cascades, Olympic Peninsula and in national parks. Otherwise, he likes to spend time relaxing and reading. He can accomplish a lot of computer work at different coffee shops, usually accompanied by a large iced mocha.
