Dr. Bohorfoush is director of therapeutic endoscopy at Northwest Hospital. He has extensive experience in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy with special focus on cancer care including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogram (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS/FNA), enteral stent placement, choledochoscopy, pancreatoscopy, lithotripsy, photodynamic therapy, radiofrequency ablation of Barrett’s esophagus, endoscopic mucosal resection of tissue or tumor, EUS guided fiducial marker placement, and celiac plexus neurolysis.

Dr. Bohorfoush earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Washington and his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Creighton University and his fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is board certified in gastroenterology.

Dr. Bohorfoush worked at the Medical College of Wisconsin for seven years as director of the GI Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedure Laboratory and director of the Pancreaticobiliary Center before returning to Washington in 1998 where he has been in private practice for the past 17 years. He joined the University of Washington faculty in March 2016. He has been listed in Seattle magazine as one of the best doctors in Seattle. Dr. Bohorfoush is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Virtual endoscopy and endoscopic simulation and training; flow cytometry for diagnosis and surveillance of malignant and premalignant pancreatic and biliary diseases; staging and therapy of gastrointestinal malignancies with endoscopic ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration with linear array ultrasound; therapeutic techniques in ERCP, with special focus on treatment of pancreaticobiliary malignancies; analysis of tissue spectroscopy characteristics of premalignant and malignant gastrointestinal epithelium and solid tumors.
