obstetricians at the UW Medicine are a group of highly trained physicians and surgeons who practice at the
Women’s Health Care Center Roosevelt
Harborview Women’s Clinic
Maternal Infant Care Clinic
Hall Health Center
. Each board certified or board eligible physician has undergone four years of specialty training in obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health prior to joining our practices.
As a group we believe pregnancy and delivery is a beautiful natural process for mother and baby. We strive to partner with you so that this experience can be rewarding and memorable. We feel that your birth experience should be as you envision it, and will help you make choices about your birth that maintain your health and your baby’s health. Our goal for every woman is a normal vaginal delivery unless there is a medical reason why this is not the safest option. If a cesarean delivery is needed, we can care for you through this process as well. We are also well trained to offer assisted vaginal delivery (with vacuum or forceps) if necessary.
Our specialized training as obstetricians enables us to care for you if there are medical or surgical complications in your pregnancy. Examples of conditions we routinely care for in pregnancy include: repeated miscarriage, thyroid disease, gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, twin pregnancy, fibroids, prior uterine surgery or prior cesarean section. We are happy to offer vaginal birth after cesarean section to women who are appropriate candidates, and we are well trained to counsel you about this option and manage your labor during the process.
As obstetrician-gynecologists we have the honor of continuing to care for our patients after delivery, during a subsequent pregnancy, and into menopause. We provide routine health care services, contraception services and gynecologic surgery if necessary. We strive to provide “whole woman – whole life” care.
We hope you will choose the obstetrics practice at the University of Washington, and we look forward to partnering with you for a beautiful birth experience.
