Biomedical and Life Sciences



Researcher in labUW School of Medicine is home to many of the biomedical and life sciences research and teaching programs at the University of Washington. A national leader in biomedical research, the UW ranks first among the nation's public research institutions in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding.
 
UW Medicine faculty have been recognized for their biomedical research achievements by the most prestigious awards in science. In addition to numerous members of the Institute of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, our faculty include four Nobel Prize winners (Drs. E. Donnall Thomas, Edmond Fischer, Lee Hartwell, and Linda Buck), two Lasker Prize recipients (Lee Hartwell and Bertil Hille), and five Gairdner Foundation award winners (Drs. Philip Green, Lee Hartwell, Bertil Hille, Maynard Olson and Robert Waterston).

Completing this form, and following the instructions for each specific program, will fulfill application requirements for both the UW Graduate School and the individual program. If you wish to apply to more than one program, you must complete a new application, and pay another application fee.

If you must apply using paper forms, you will have to contact the specific program to which you are applying. Some departments are still able to accept paper applications and some are not.
