We’ve updated our patient records system

What is EpicCare Link?

UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center implemented a single Epic electronic health record: EpicCare Link, a secure, online portal that provides free, password-protected access to the UW Medicine Epic electronic health record (EHR). Physicians, other licensed healthcare providers and support staff can access the medical record for patients referred to or from UW Medicine. This web-based service requires no installation on your servers or computers.

Use EpicCare Link for any outpatient and inpatient records

Providers may place imaging orders through EpicCare Link. A job aid is available on the EpicCare Link home page.

Note about historical data

All historic patient data for care provided at UW Medicine up to March 27th is stored in the Ellkay Archive. The Ellkay Archive replaced ORCA, Soarian and MINDscape EHR systems.

You will be able to access the Ellkay Archive via a link in the EpicCare Patient Snapshot tab once you are in a patient chart.  No additional sign-in is needed to access the Ellkay Archive. When you click the Ellkay Archive button, it will open the same patient from Epic. Training materials for navigating in the Ellkay Archive are available on the EpicCare Link landing page under Quick Links.

Available through EpicCare

EpicCare Link provides access to the records of patients at:

  • Harborview Medical Center
  • Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
  • UW Medical Center – Montlake
  • UW Medical Center – Northwest
  • UW Medicine Primary Care

Records from Valley Medical Center and Seattle Children's Hospital may be available if they have been previously queried through Care Everywhere. Records may include:

  • Patient encounters
  • Progress notes
  • Lab results
  • Medication lists
  • Radiology reports
  • Radiology scans and images
