About this Clinic
The Eye Institute at Harborview offers complete services from basic exams to complex treatments and surgeries. The institute staff provides comprehensive treatment for people with glaucoma, cataracts and diseases of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves, specializing in age related eye diseases. They also perform refractive procedures (such as LASEK) and oculofacial plastic (cosmetic and post-traumatic) procedures. Some surgeries are performed in operating space at the Eye Institute, while others take place in the operating rooms in the Maleng Building across the street.
Eyes on James is our full-service optical shop located at street level in the Ninth & Jefferson Building at the intersection of James Street and Terry Avenue. The shop offers eye exams, specialty glasses and contact lenses. For additional information, call 206.897.4774.

The Ninth & Jefferson Building (NJB) is adjacent to Harborview Medical Center (see map
). NJB's main walk-in entrance is on Jefferson Street, just east of Ninth Avenue.
From Interstate 5:
- Exit at James Street (#165A) in downtown Seattle.
- Turn up the hill (east) onto James.
- Turn right onto Terry Avenue, then access the building's parking garage on the right.
