International Medicine Clinic at Harborview

About this Clinic

The International Medicine Clinic at Harborview provides adult refugees and immigrants ages 16 and older with the highest quality of primary care services. Non- and limited-English speaking adults receive care with the assistance of staff who speak the languages most commonly encountered in the clinic: Amharic, Cambodia, Cantonese, Chao Jo, Mandarin, Hmong, Laotian, Mien, Oromo, Somali, Tigrinya and Vietnamese.

Interpreter services are also available. Since many clinic patients are accustomed to non-Western healing traditions, acupuncture and massage are available, and providers often collaborate with community healers. Our Community House Calls program works with members of the refugee and immigrant communities to visit patients at home and make follow-up visits. The clinic also collaborates with other community health agencies on important public health projects, such as Ethnomed, a source of multicultural health care information available online.

Health education is available for a variety of conditions, either in the clinic or through Harborview's Patient and Family Resource Center.

Patient care coordinators help patients with a variety of issues related to care, such as health insurance, making appointments, contacting other agencies. The full services of UW Medicine are available for other specialty services or hospitalization.

Why We Charge for Parking
The Washington State Legislature and King County mandates that parking at Harborview be self-supporting. As a King County-owned, state-managed institution, all garages and parking lots on our campus are paid for out of parking revenues. Harborview parking revenues must pay for all repairs, bonds and loans on all parking facilities. Parking revenues are also used to subsidize various Harborview commuter programs and the valet service. According to the state legislature, parking revenues must pay for all these expenses and may not come from other sources.
