UW Medicine Virtual Clinic is available to people of all ages located in Washington. Virtual visits are not available to those covered under government insurance such as Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid or Tricare. If you are covered under a government insurance plan, we can help you find a UW Medicine resource near you.
In some circumstances, UW Medicine Virtual Clinic can save you a trip to your family physician. Virtual visits should not replace a relationship with a primary care provider (PCP). If you don't have a PCP, we can help you find one.
If clinically appropriate, UW Medicine Virtual Clinic providers can prescribe medication to treat your health concern. Commonly prescribed medications include antibiotics when indicated, allergy medications, anti-nausea medications, and various skin creams or ointments. UW Medicine Virtual Clinic providers will not prescribe or refill medications for the treatment of a psychiatric condition, and they will not prescribe controlled substances, including medications such as:
- Narcotic medications (i.e. Oxycodone, Vicodin, Percocet, Codeine)
- Anti-anxiety medications (i.e. Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin)
UW Medicine Virtual Clinic is intended for minor illnesses only. It is not intended to deliver ongoing care. It is also not intended for prescription refills. If you need a prescription refill, we recommend that you speak with your primary care provider or specialist. Short-term prescription refills for indicated conditions may be issued in select cases.
