​​​​​​​The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at UWMC provides comprehensive care for patients with complex and/or long-term consequences of a major illness or injury. The clinic assists patients with problems related to physical and cognitive disabilities, as well as a range of conditions, including:

  • Stroke
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Brain injury
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Amputations
  • Post-polio
  • Cancer-related disabilities including neuro-oncology
  • Pain and neurological disorders
  • Musculoskeletal disorders

Other Services
  • Follow-up to rehabilitation programs for patients discharged from UWMC
  • Initiation and coordination of outpatient rehabilitation and exercise programs
  • Medical and pharmacological management for active rehabilitation patients
  • Neuropsychology evaluation and testing
  • Evaluation for outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, assistive technology and social work services
  • Botulinum toxin and neurolytic block clinics
  • Intrathecal baclofen pump program

Health education and support groups are available for a variety of conditions through the Rehabilitation Medicine Department or UW Medical Center's Patient and Family Resource Center.
