​​The UW Medicine Regional Epilepsy Center at Harborview is comprised of a team of specialists in adult and pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology and neuropsychology, as well as nurses, social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists and electrodiagnostic technicians function to diagnose and treat difficult seizure problems. The center works in partnership with referring physicians across the Northwest and the rest of the United States to diagnose and treat all types of seizure disorders among children and adults.

Surgery
Following complex pre-surgery evaluation and testing, neurosurgeons perform surgical procedures on epilepsy patients who experience persistent disabling or life-altering seizures despite an adequate trial of medication.

The clinic provides care and services for a variety of conditions and disorders, including:
  • Recurrent seizures
  • Evaluation and management of epilepsy
  • Determining the nature of episodes which might be seizures
  • Providing epilepsy surgical evaluations
  • Uncontrolled seizures
  • Candidates for the vagal nerve stimulator, a pacemaker-like device for seizures
  • Advice on creating treatment/medication care plan
