Three medicines have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of fibromyalgia:
– Duloxetine, Milnacipran, and Pregabalin.
You should know, though, that these medicines at best provide only partial relief of fibromyalgia symptoms. Some pain medications may be useful, although they have not been studied extensively in fibromyalgia. Drugs generally work best when they are combined with other treatments. Heat, cold, massage and acupuncture may give short-term relief, although they do not cure FMS. Most people find the greatest relief by combining exercise, medicine and relaxation.
