Fraser, Robert T.

Robert T Fraser, Ph.D.

Dr. Fraser is a licensed counseling and rehabilitation psychologist and UW professor of neurology, neurological surgery and rehabilitation medicine. Known for his pioneering work in the field of epilepsy rehabilitation counseling, Dr. Fraser has published numerous articles and book chapters.

He serves on the Seizure Reclassification Task Force and the Commission on the Burden of Epilepsy for the International League Against Epilepsy. Dr. Fraser has published widely on the vocational aspects of epilepsy, rehabilitation counseling and job placement for those with neurological disorders. He has made presentations in Copenhagen, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Berlin and across the United States.

He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and serves on the Board of the Epilepsy Association of Washington and the National Epilepsy Foundation Professional Advisory Board. He is chair of the epilepsy and employment task force of the American Epilepsy Society and the Epilepsy Foundation.

Patient Care Philosophy
Rehabilitation, particularly vocational rehabilitation, has a successful outcome as a function of the partnership among the patient, service provider and the greater community.

Research Interests
Dr. Fraser's research interests include self-management interventions for individuals with chronic medical conditions, predictions of vocational outcome and effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation interventions.
