Weinstein, Jonathan R.

Jonathan Richard Weinstein, M.D.

Dr. Weinstein is a UW assistant professor of neurology.  His clinical practice is based at the UW Stroke Center at Harborview Medical Center, where he  focuses on patients with stroke or vascular neurological diseases of all kinds.  This includes ischemic strokes due to blood vessel occlusion, hemorrhagic strokes related to intracranial bleeding and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). He places a strong emphasis on determining the cause of the stroke and deciding on the optimal treatment paradigm for stroke prevention. In addition, he focuses much of his attention on stroke education and developing strategies for optimal stroke recovery.

Patient Care Philosophy
"In my clinical practice, I try hard to establish seamless two-way communication between myself and my patients.  I work hard to be accessible and available to patients for answering questions regarding diagnosis, work-up, treatment, expected recovery or other aspects of care. I see stroke recovery and prevention as a long-term collaborative effort between patient and physician."
