My career interests have been dedicated to compassionate, ethical care of patients in the preoperative environment and in end of life care. Patients deserve direct, honest and balanced communication of medical treatments and options, as well as a caring ear when undergoing experiences in the medical environment. The patient-physician relationship is both complex and rewarding, in should involve more than an exchange of medical facts. Understanding the perspectives and desires of the patient are critical.
In clinical practice, I am committed to efficient, cost-effective medical care. Patients rely on us to make reliable, reasonable and effective decisions with them about the course of their care. I believe that evidence-based medical care serves not only the patient well in providing care that is individualized and yet based on proven methods, but it serves the community well in making the most responsible use of resources in the health care system.
Most of all, I believe in taking time to learn about my patients in a way that allows us to 'team' together better in their medical experience, and also helps me to understand best their goals and desires with regard to their medical care.
