Bruce Joseph Sangeorzan, M.D.
Dr. Sangeorzan is specialist at the Sigvard T. Hansen Jr. Foot and Ankle Institute and chief of the Orthopedics Service at Harborview Medical Center. He also is professor and vice-chair of UW's Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he also completed intern and resident training in orthopaedic surgery. He completed fellowships in trauma and foot and ankle reconstruction at the UW. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery.
He has received the Resdient Teaching Award, the OREF Clinical research award, The Mann Award for clinical research, the AMSUS Award for contributions to military care, and the Paul Magnusson Award for sustained contribution to clinical research for veterans' care.
Patient Care Philosophy
The physician's most important role is to explain in lay terms how the body works and how a condition or disease affects function. The physician should explain the treatment options and help the patient chose the most appropriate option.
