Shu-Hong Chang, M.D.
Dr. Chang is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Washington. After graduating summa cum laude from Duke University, she earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed residency training at Washington University in St. Louis.
Following residency, Dr. Chang obtained advanced fellowship training in two ophthalmology subspecialties: ophthalmic pathology at Washington University in St. Louis and orbital and oculofacial plastic surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/UCLA in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, California.
Dr. Chang cares for patients with plastic surgery disorders affecting the eyelids, nasolacrimal system, orbit, face and neck. In addition, she is the associate director of the Oculoplastic Surgery Fellowship.
As an ophthalmic pathologist as well as an orbital and oculofacial plastic surgeon, Dr. Chang understands the microscopic basis of diseases, but approaches each patient as an individual with unique reconstructive and aesthetic goals.
Dr. Chang provides medical and surgical care for patients with all forms of ptosis (droopy eyelids and eyebrows), nasolacrimal duct disease, orbital tumors/inflammation, Graves disease, eye socket abnormalities, facial skin cancers and facial trauma. Cosmetic procedures include botulinum toxin injections, periocular and facial synthetic and fat fillers, chemical and laser skin resurfacing, eyebrow and eyelid lifts, and face/neck rejuvenation.
Cooking, grilling and spending time with her family and six- pound chorkie (Chihuahua-Yorkshire terrier mix).
Dr. Chang is interested in orbital tumors and inflammatory diseases, including orbital lymphoma and thyroid-associated Graves disease.
Dr. Chang has lectured nationally and internationally on various topics within her specialty. She is active in resident teaching and is a preceptor in the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery fellowship training program at UW.
