Brant Kurt Oelschlager, M.D.
Dr. Oelschlager is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in esophageal and gastric surgery, as well as other operations of the gastrointestinal tract. He has extensive experience in advanced minimally invasive procedures, and has pioneeered many of these techniques and procedures and introduced them in the Pacific Northwest for his patients.
Dr. Oelschlager is the Director for the Surgical Specialties "Center for Esophageal & Gastric Surgery" as well as the University of Washington's "Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery". He is the Byers Endowed Professor in Esophageal Research in the UW School of Medicine. Dr. Oelschlager is widely published and recognized both nationally and internationally for his expertise.
In his practice, he provides the least invasive treatment options available to patients with esophageal and other gastrointestinal diseases, through state-of-the-art laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques.

Patient Care Philosophy
Dr. Oelschlager's philosophy in treating his patients is to provide patient-focused care and effective patient-physician communication. His goal is to provide the most effective, least minimally invasive surgical treatment whenever possible for his patient to reduce their recovery time and discomfort from surgery.
Personal Interests
Spending time with family, outdoor activities, running and sports.
Clinical Interests
Videoendoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, esophageal surgery, paraesophageal hiatal hernia surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and flexible endoscopy.
Research Interests
Esophageal diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux, Barrett's esophagus, esophageal cancer, achalasia, paraesophageal hiatal hernias and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Teaching Interests
Minimally invasive surgery and gastric and esophageal diseases.
