Patient Care Philosophy

My multi-disciplinary burn team and I are passionate about helping injured burn patients restore their lives and return to their pre-injury functional and psychological condition.

Cooking, gardening and printmaking.

Burns and inflammatory responses to injury; metabolism; neuroinflammation in wound healing; quality of burn care; hypertrophic scarring.

Dr. Gibran is a UW professor of surgery and director of the UW Medicine Regional Burn Center at Harborview Medical Center. After completing her medical degree and residency in surgery at Boston University, she completed a one-year fellowship at the Burn Center at Harborview, followed by a two-year National Institutes of Health Trauma Fellowship in the UW Department of Surgery.

Dr. Gibran's expertise is in burns, critical care and wound healing. Her research includes the role of nerves in wound repair, genetic influences on scarring and long-term functional outcomes following burn injuries.
