Patient Care Philosophy

Dr. Mokadam develops partnerships with his patients in order to effectively provide the highest level of surgical therapy for the heart.

Personal Interests

Family time, skiing, golf, cycling and travel.

Clinical Interests

Heart transplant, mechanical circulatory support (LVAD & TAH), aortic rood reconstruction, transcatheter valves (TAVR, MitraClip), valvular heart disease and coronary revascularization.

Research Interests

Cardiac surgery simulation, outcomes research, surgical education, stem cell therapy and ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Dr. Mokadam is the co-director of heart transplantation and the program director for mechanical circulatory support (ventricular assist devices) at UW Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Mokadam has interests in minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, off-pump coronary artery bypass, endovascular aortic surgery, percutaneous valve surgery and complex mitral valve surgery, in addition to his dedication to the heart transplant and ventricular assist device programs.
