Dr. Montenovo is a UW Assistant Professor of surgery with expertise in liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation. He is an expert in living donor liver transplantation and management of liver cancer. He and his team performed the first adult to adult liver living donor transplant in the PNW.

Dr. Montenovo earned his M.D. from the University of Rosario in Argentina. He first came to the UW as a research fellow in the department of surgery and after completing his general surgery residency and transplant fellowship at UW, he was recruited to start the living donor liver transplant program. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

Patient Care Philosophy

I especially like to work with patients who are actively involved in their care. At the University of Washington Transplant Center, we bring together all aspects of end-stage liver and kidney disease evaluation and treatment for the patient's benefit. We are the only center in the PNW that offer the chance of living liver donation either to adults as well as children’s.

As a physician, what excites me is to be able to successfully take care of patients. Our resources to do that are much better now than even a few years ago. I am especially excited when patients are actively engaged in their care.
