Kyra J. Becker, M.D., is a vascular neurologist with training in stroke and critical care neurology. Dr. Becker is director of Vascular Neurology Services at the UW Medicine Comprehensive Stroke Center at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle.
Dr. Becker earned her M.D. from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. She completed her medical internship, neurology residency and neurocritical care fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. She is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology, and a fellow of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Becker is actively engaged in research, studying how the immune response contributes to brain injury after stroke and ways to modify this response to improve outcome.
Dr. Becker is a professor in the departments of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at University of Washington, Seattle. She is involved with the American Stroke Association and chair of the International Stroke Conference.
When away from practicing medicine, Dr. Becker enjoys sailing, music, theater and travel.
