Dr. Bennett is the Program Director for the UW Geriatric Medicine Fellowship and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She specializes in geriatric medicine in the inpatient, outpatient and post-acute/long term care settings and is based at Harborview Medical Center.

Dr. Bennett earned her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her M.D. from the Ohio State University. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington. Dr. Bennett completed the UW Teaching Scholars program for leaders in medical education in 2012, and the Medical Education Research Certificate Program in 2016.

Dr. Bennett is dedicated to improving the care of older adults through medical education. She has extensive experience and training in medical education and has developed geriatrics curricula and evaluation tools for medical students, residents, and fellows. She is co-site director for the Harborview Geriatrics rotation for fourth year medical students and Program Director for the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship.

She is the Education Lead for the Northwest Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Center (nwgwec.org) and serves as the founding medical director of UW Project ECHO geriatrics (an interprofessional case consultation and education program). She worked with two Area Agencies on Aging to create practicums that teach family medicine residents and geriatric medicine fellows about community resources that can optimize the health and well-being of their patients.

Dr. Bennett's research focuses on medical education, quality improvement, and fall prevention in older adults on anticoagulants.

Patient Care Philosophy

I focus on getting to know what is most important to my patients in order to provide truly patient-centered care with an emphasis on quality of life. I work with an interdisciplinary team which may include nurses, medical assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, geriatric psychiatrists and other specialists to help my patients maintain their health and independence.

Personal Interests

I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, son and dog), hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Geriatric medicine including long term care (in skilled nursing facilities), inpatient consultation and outpatient primary care / geriatric assessment.

Research Interests

Medical education; falls and anticoagulation; improving the quality of care for older adults.
