Dr. Beard is a UW associate professor of family medicine, who joined the University of Washington in 2003. He completed medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia and residency at Providence Family Medicine in Seattle.

Prior to joining UW, Dr. Beard was in practice in West Seattle for 13 years. He became program director for the UW Family Medicine Residency in 2011 and coordinates training for 24 residents in the program.

He has a clinical practice and provides broad-spectrum family medical care to patients in the clinic. He sees adults, children and families of all ages and has special interests in pediatric care, women's reproductive health, obstetrical care, procedural outpatient medicine and diabetes.
