Patient Care Philosophy

Patients with cancer are faced with an overwhelming diagnosis, a bewildering array of life changing treatments and uncertainty regarding their future. I appreciate the opportunity to help them navigate these challenging waters, including the surgical challenges that they frequently face. It is very rewarding and a privilege to do this. The relationships that one builds are meaningful and lifelong.

Dr. Mann is an associate professor of surgery in the Department of Surgery, with specialty interest in surgical oncology. He is involved in the delivery of surgical care to patients with complex oncologic needs. His particular clinical interests include soft tissue tumors/ sarcomas, peritoneal surface malignancies, colorectal cancer, pancreatic tumors, endocrine tumors and robotic surgery.

Dr. Mann earned his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. After several years of research, he completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. His specialty training in surgical oncology was at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. After his fellowship, he began his career at the University of Washington, where he is still today.

Dr. Mann is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology.
