We were very appreciative of the explanation Dr. Hisama provided in relation to the genetic testing results. She was clear and concise. She didn't speak "doctor speak"; rather, she explained the situation in terms a non-medical professional could understand.

About Fuki M. Hisama

Fuki Marie Hisama, M.D., is a board certified physician and medical director of the UW Medicine Genetic Medicine Clinic and a UW professor of Medicine and Medical Genetics and an adjunct professor of Neurology. She has been named a "Top Doctor" by Seattle Magazine and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.

Dr. Hisama is a clinical geneticist. She evaluates patients who have genetic conditions or have genetic conditions in their family. She strives to create active partnerships with her patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Hisama earned her M.D. at the University of Chicago. She is one of a small group of individuals who are board certified in both Clinical Genetics and Neurology. Her clinical interests include cancer genetics, cardiac genetics, autism genetics, pediatric and adult neurogenetics, precision medicine and genomic medicine. She conducts research on genomic medicine, neurogenetics and the genetics of premature aging syndromes.

When away from medicine, Dr. Hisama enjoys hiking and reading.
