About Ellen A. Schur
Ellen A. Schur, M.D., M.S. is professor of medicine at the University of Washington in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Harborview Medical Center. After 13 years as a primary care physician at Harborview Medical Center, she now dedicates her clinical practice to obesity medicine at the UW Medicine Center for Weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery. Dr. Schur conducts research on brain regulation of appetite and also teaches and mentors medical students, physician fellows and graduate students who are interested in clinical research on obesity.
Dr. Schur completed her medical degree at Stanford University in 1999. She received an M.S. in epidemiology in 2008 from the UW.
Dr. Schur's clinical interests include weight management and diabetes. She was instrumental in founding the UW Medicine Weight Loss Management Program. She now directs the UW Nutrition and Obesity Research Center and is Clinical Research Director of the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute.

Dr. Schur enjoys reading, being a mother and photography.
