Dr. Lee’s research includes measuring health care outcomes and improving quality of care.  He also is interested patient safety and streamlining health care delivery systems.

Dr. Lee completed his ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then pursued subspecialty training in cornea, refractive and cataract surgery at the highly regarded Minnesota Eye Consultants. In 2012, he was named the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society Anterior Segment Fellow of the Year. He specializes in cornea, cataract, refractive and complicated anterior segment surgery. Dr. Lee is certified to use the Intralase femtosecond laser, VISX excimer laser, LenSx laser and Intacs.

Dr. Lee earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard College and his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School. He received his M.D. at Washington University in St. Louis, which he attended on a four-year, full-tuition merit scholarship. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Maxwell Grand Prize in Ophthalmology.

He has been the first author of multiple papers on cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Lee also has authored several textbook chapters on refractive and anterior segment surgery and has presented at the three largest eye meetings. Because of his interest in health policy, he chose to pursue both medical and legal training and is currently working on projects relating to patient safety, decreasing administrative waste and outcomes measurement.

He has served for several years on American Academy of Ophthalmology committees and also is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Young Physicians and Residents Clinical Committee. Dr. Lee served on the executive board of the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons from 2008 to 2011 and was the Cornea Society’s AAO Ambassador in 2012.
